We didn't find out about SFO and LA doing the DEN-NRT until the bid packet came out so good luck finding crew planning projection. Currently IAH has a 787 day trip turn to DEN with a 3 hour sit. The NRT trip is actually partially flown as a 6 day by LA and the DH from SFO next month.

It won't last esp once SFO 787 long haul blows up this summer. All logic leads to DEN-NRT going back to IAH trip. That said I'm sure retirements will allow senior commuters to chase the flying.

"The discussion that IAH would have both of the domestic routes (out and back to DEN and out and back to SFO) makes it seem likely that they would have DEN-NRT as well."

Yes I also read the last update, but this statement of yours is what I'm pointing at. While it probably will move again no one official has said it will. This is the danger of these blogs.

My original point was a less than honorable Captain is getting bumped out of his good deal. Yes!

The most junior B787 CA position shows number 3532.

Does 78 flying suck? Why so junior?

If it's a mix of domestic and international that may turn off some bidders who are flying pure international right now. Domestic sucks.

If the trips are unproductive that may turn off some people.

If the trips are a week long, or longer that would tick off anyone with a family or kids.

It went so junior because there was a fence. Most realized that if they bid it it was going to be a long stint of reserve. Also it's in SFO that tends to go very junior.

I know this is simply an Internet forum and most information is worthless so if my "prediction" of Den-NRT is wrong I'll buy the beers, but I'm pretty sure I won't need my wallet.

I was told by a completely dubious source of questionable reliability that February was our (SFO) last month for NRT. It would be surprising and pretty redundant if we did both Haneda and Narita from the same base. That said the tag to Singapore off NRT was just announced and it would seem like a bit of a limited market for DEN compared to the west coast. So there's that...

So. Does anybody have an answer from pilot planning about the fact that there were 3 people awarded Den 737 Cap on the Final, yet they are not showing awarded on the Category Summary? IT at its finest.

New hire question here. I'm still in training, so my question covers the time between training/IOE and the start of the recent vacancy award date of 1 Mar 16.

My initial bid was 737/FO to EWR and I suscessfully bid ORD in the recent vacancy. I expect to be done with training/IOE in early Feb. Living closer to ORD I would prefer to just start there vice EWR however, being new and not understanding the protocol just yet I don't want to step in "it" in my first days with the company. Should I expect to go to EWR for Feb or is it possible to get ORD right out of the gate? What is the best way to approach this question?

Thx for the help.

I don't have recent experience with your situation but it's likely you'll be flying out of EWR for several months before they activate your lateral to ORD. You may even go from lineholder in EWR to reserve in ORD - and end up deciding to lateral back to EWR so you can be a lineholder.

You will get a notification on CCS (typically at the end of each month when they move pieces around before monthly PBS bidding opens).

That said, you are EWR based until then. You will most likely be stuck in EWR for at least a month, but you might get activated before you finish IOE with all of the movement. You can always email pilot planning and ask when they plan to activate you. Welcome!
