All but 1 of those pilots jumping off the bus to the 737 are currently on the 737. They were awarded the 320 on the last bid because it was the first seat in DEN. Now they can bid the 737 and not have to go to training.

Not just no training but no associated freeze for bidding sideways as well.

I appreciate the explanation as I muddle my way through learning the language. Gotta be careful not to blink as the changes keep coming.

The 787 Captain bid is actually going more senior than I thought it would. Some might also remember the MEC reported there is a challenge to the last bid which will be heard by a neutral in February. Who knows maybe 1601V will also be turned upside down and may be rebid.
Or the neutral could say the Company correctly placed the bid.
No matter what the outcome commuting to reserve will suck for some.
For those new to this bidding stuff and its long-term effects, never bid what you are not willing to commute to or live with on reserve. And never think rights are written in stone anywhere.
Just ask one of those old TWA or Braniff types who were flying high and then found they didn't have a job and joined the ranks as a new-hire again.

Why would 16-01v be rebid? Someone didn't like the results?

There is a grevience that is going before the Arbs. The grevience is by pilots arguing that the fence should have been down for 16-01V due to the actual effective date of the bid being after number 25 was on property. It was in an MEC message I believe.

Found the MEC update. It was Oct 15th.
Vacancy Bid 16-01V was released this past Friday, October 9. This bid has vacancies for both the 747 and the 787.
A L-UAL pilot has submitted an ISL DRC claim challenging the company’s actions. The ISL DRC would like to remind all pilots that there is a defined and specific process set out in Exhibit B of the EKN Award for addressing any issues regarding the Company's administration and handling of the EKN Award. This process will be utilized to handle any claim put forth by our pilots. The dispute resolution form for both L-CAL and L-UAL pilots can be accessed on the UAL MEC website in the right column of the Members' section.
