as I previously posted these guys are younger than you think. most of the legacy UAL guys bidding 787 CAP are 570, legacy UAL guys hired in mid/late 1985 a number in their early 20's.... I know a few of them..... just at first glance I can pick out at least 5 guys under the age of 55 on this first snapshot and nearly all of them are under 60..., except for the single/double digit guys
I'm LCAL and a some will disagree with my first statement, and I'm ok with that. We've had some CAL scabs openly admit what they did was very wrong. They did their best to get involved in our union and work hard on behalf of our pilots serving on many committees and some even good representatives.
That being said. Too many of our scabs have been way too coddled under the former Fred Abbott (friends of Fred flight Ops management team). At CAL a scab was a dirty word and a non scab sometimes was disciplined for saying the word.
LUAL pilots culture is far superior in how they appropriately dealt with their scabs. I'm very happy some of our scabs will finally be treated exactly as they have always deserved to be treated.
I'm an 87 hire and the best part of upgrading in 99 was never having to fly with a scab again. I've looked through the 787 CA staffing and some of the lowest of the absolute lowest scabs are staffed on that airplane. Just the ultimate of the low life dirt bags. One who totally exemplified what a total low life he is actually went through a sham divorce prior to our "A" plan being frozen to get his lump sum. He was fired like several others but was able to through his law suit to get his job back.
Hopefully he and the other scabs will get theirs (even in some small way) now!
