We have the exact same say as with anything else the company does - we get to complain. A lot.

A question on the asterisks from someone outside United:

Is the E-195E2 included in the same pay band as the E-195? That is a 130-seat aircraft (much larger than the original E-195)

Yup.

What could possibly go wrong?

It is still a paper airplane. Why waste negotiating capitol on it.

That thing is the size of a 737-700! It's 10 feet longer than the E195-E1, but they kept the same designator for marketing purposes. Did the United pilot group just get duped by an OEM marketing team?

Nobody got duped, sport. The rate is 195/hr for an E190 thru an E195-E2. Go find me a better rate anywhere for that A/C. A 737-700 MTOW is 23K heavier than an E195-E2, with more than 2x the range.

There's been plenty of "paper airplanes" negotiated in advance over the years. A recent example is the CS300 in the UPA.

Considering that one of the stated reasons for entering negotiations for the TA was for a new small narrowbody aircraft THIS was (past tense) the exact time we were supposed to get it right.

You're negotiating your pay rates based on range? Then why is the A319/73G rate lower than the MD80/90? 757-300 vs 757-200?

The E-195E2 has more seats than the 737-700, and you may have just agreed to fly it for $57/hr less. Wow!

Talk about buying your own growth...
