Very interesting times indeed. It seems that this is a hybrid of amending their current agreement and opening early their next agreement.

I hope the flight attendants are watching and resolve their own internal conflicts so they can play ball as well.

It also lends some credence to the suggestion that this new management is trying a different tact than we've seen before. This is unprecedented in the 20+ years I've been here.

You spend a lot of time on this forum selling the company's positions. When you say 20 years, which side of the fence are you talking. Most understand you are anti-ALPA but what is your purpose of trying to get the pilots to sell out. BTW, the Mechanics and Flight Attendants are working toward their own contracts and probable don't appreciate you getting involved by shilling for the company.

Aside from the noise, why is the company opening contracts early? Those who set the framework have an upper hand on the argument.

Staller, did you forget your meds again? You're an angry elf! Proud union dues paying line pilot for 20 years, just for the record

That's the big question. What IS the benefit of opening early? Analysts suggest that it's a move by Munoz to buy "labor peace", which has x value. Staller suggests it's a big Trojan Horse designed to ruin us forever. Another theory is to take your suggestion of "those who set the framework have an upper hand in the argument" and apply it not to United employees but to the industry in general. Perhaps it's a play out of DAL's handbook where they opened early on the last contract cycle thus being able to shape the labor costs industry wide by going first. I certainly don't pretend to know. I did note that the IAM leadership was much more enthusiastic about the news of a contract ammendment followed by early open than ALPA's leadership was.... understandable seeing as it appears on the surface to be a better offer than what we got.

Despite what Staller says, I'm not for or against anything yet other than being glad that we are having a dialogue. I've always been a fan of taking advantage of opportunities when they arise. Is this an opportunity, or the company's attempt to swindle us yet again? No way to know yet unless you're at the negotiating table. I certainly understand the pessimistic views. I've lived through the same hell as everyone else. I tend to be a little bit more opportunistic than most. Then again, I closed on a house on August 2011, so clearly I'm not a smart investor

You still didn't come back with motives. I've not seen your expression of support on the other forums. Is it possible you don't qualify.

I see you're pulling the Staller card to rally support of the other company shills and why the anger toward ALPA?

What anger do you see me have towards ALPA? I have absolutely none. I think if you read my posts and then your posts, the one of us that needs anger management classes becomes rather clear. I'm not sure what you're suggesting, that I'm in management? If that's what you're getting at, you can just ask me. You'd be wrong.

If anything, today's announcement has soured me on any contract extension deal. I would prefer to just open Section 6 now if that's what's being offered to the IAM.

Hey Swindells - you're irrelevant. Go play patty cake with Kravit and the rest of your Sesame Street crew on ualforums.
