Don't think people are leaving for AA and DL. Just reading this forum, DL is running a 6 month pool and AA is over a year. Anyone in the AA pool is coming up on a year of seniority here and in the DL pool they are probably off high mins here.

Not saying it doesn't happen just saying it isn't causing the class dates to change by several weeks.

Unless of course they entered the pool at DL or AA before they got the interview at UA. It may be that people are accepting the first offer they get and then if another one comes along they start weighing their options. If they were swimming in the DL or AA pool for a few months, they may have ended up with several class dates all being offered at the same (or almost the same) time!

Leave it to the jaded to turn a exciting thread for some into a negative thread.

We had 4 leave for DL in the last six months and 0 to AA. Hardly a problem. We have had 3 SW come to us and one DL during the same time.

The truth of the matter is that the infamous 10,000 app list is the same for DL and somewhat SW too. The list continues to shrink and hiring is about grabbing good and qualified guys/gals. We want to hire 900 more for 2016 and the numbers need to match. It's that simple. If we could go to 100/mos we would.

One other thing to consider, I heard it from a pretty good source because they are still wanting 80-100 a month during winter to get ready for summer 16 that there will be only two classes in December. One of 30 and one of, wait for it......65! I know right? As far as people leaving for other airlines I have one word for you, widebody. We have almost twice as many and the last bid had guys with two years on property getting them! There is no better place to be unless you absolutely have to live in Atlanta or the big D. So if you've got your CJO here thank your lucky stars and get ready for a great ride.
Cheers,
Fetch

I am absolutely not trying to be negative and apologize if that is the way it came across.

For those that are looking for a great job, I would tell them to come on over!

If however, they have offers from UA, DL, and AA I would absolutely understand that they have a very serious decision to make. I would tell them that despite the roller coaster that UA has been, I would still choose UA today over the others. But I live in Chicagoland and that is a huge part of the decision for me and my family! If somebody else lives in Atlanta, Dallas, or Miami I would totally understand (prob actually recommend) that they choose DL or AA as appropriate.

I flew with a Captain at TWA (1996) and his son had just completed OE and the two of them got to fly a trip together. Right after that trip his son had an offer to go to Delta. They had had such a great trip, his son called and said he was thinking of staying at TWA. This Captain told his son No F'ing Way do you stay. You make the best decision for you and your family because at the end of the day the company doesn't care about you one bit. He told his son he absolutely needed to go to DL, very good advice!!!!

I hope that all the guys and gals that are getting an offer from us get one from AA and DL as well. If any of the three feel that they are losing out on too many pilots they will be compelled to make coming to their airline a better choice by increasing pay or other benefits. That is good for us all.

In the meantime, every prospective pilot should explore every aspect of all the offers they have (even if they have already started somewhere else) and make the best decision for them and their family based on the information they have and what is most important to their family.

Go cats,

Not pointed at you at all. Sorry that you took it that way. As a matter of fact I read DF's post again and see that t wasn't negative as more of a question/observation. So to DF I apologize for putting words in your mouth.

Just interviewed today. They said to expect an answer by end of next week. Is there any chance the board met late in the day or could meet tomorrow and I could get a call this week? The agonizing week ahead is not pleasant to think about. It's worst than the week before the interview.

Enjoy the week! From my limited knowledge calls go out Thursday and Friday for the week prior interviews not the week of. It will just make it that much sweeter when the call comes.
