UAL Benefits
With the current contract...goods and others....Is there a simple way to figure out actual yearly compensation? Specifics...1st year FO, max retirement contribution, (company matches up to 16% (is that accurate?)), and flying the guarantee. It would seem there is an app for that...perhaps a website? I just haven't tracked it down. Any input is greatly appreciated.

It is 16%. It is not a match. If you receive a pay check, they put 16% more into the retirement for you.
You won't fly under minimum guarantee (unless you try to). My months on reserve were in the 85-90 hour range. My months as a line holder have all been close to 90 hours. There's also international override and per diem.

I have a benefits question
Did ALPA negotiate the ability for us pilots to have the health insurance we want? I remember Obama saying if we want to keep our health insurance and our doctor we could do that.
I've been with Aetna here in Houston, TX for a long time. Got something in the mail from United last week saying we couldn't keep Aetna and we would have to switch to Blue Cross.
How can that be? What does ALPA have to say about this?

You get the international override for the block time on international legs and international per diem whenever on international trips.

It really does depend on fleet/domicile. There are several categories where reserves are doing nothing, so you can't count on breaking guarantee.

If you work at UAL for an entire calendar year you will receive profit sharing the following February IF UAL was profitable that year. The % follows a convoluted formula and has been quite variable.
Plan on profit sharing as a nice little bonus to stick into savings or a little bit extra for your kids 529 account. If your family budget is based on a specific profit sharing target you are doing it wrong.
