Hopefully this isn't lip service. If Munoz is really trying to change things, he is at least trying to get information. See the link below.

Lots of words. Show me some real, tangible deeds and I'll consider pulling harder. Show me some investment in the employees before I invest my time and efforts to the company. FIX the broken payroll system so I don't have to spend a couple hours auditing my pay...then I may consider writing notes to our 1K's and GS. Lots of words...Smisek had those too.

I disagree. SmallStack didn't have lots of words... or ANY words.... of substance. He never would recognize there was a problem or admit that he made a mistake. Every word he said was pure crap. It's too early to tell if there will be action to follow up this initial communication, but Munoz's words are FAR different than Jeff's
Oscar wont be able to make all our problems go away overnight, but his WORDS are a good start.

I think that we have to give Oscar a little latitude. If he is really trying to change the way we do business, we need to cooperate. If we wait for him to do the work and then react, the mess will never get cleaned up. I'm not a pro management person, but I am cautiously optimistic about Mr. Munoz. This mess needs to get cleaned up, or our company will suffer. I want to have a nice 20 year career here at United.

Munoz is giving lip service. He sat on the board and rubber stamped JS's BS. Now he says he wasn't aware of what Jeff was doing. First off the one thing he shouldn't do is lie.
We should hold Munoz more accountable. He wants time then let him get all the contracts done and honor our contract. And maybe then we consider it. Otherwise, let him pound sand.

As I said earlier, my job conduct won't change until UAL changes. There are no WORDS that will persuade me, no pleas for loyalty, no rally cries for 'the good of the company', or rhetoric about focusing on the future and ignoring rear view mirrors. I'm a reasonable, big picture guy - but UAL management 'created' me over past decade plus, so now they have to deal with it.
I'll continue to do my job and enforce my contract as I have been doing.

He wants us to hold him accountable. He should articulate what that means...to me it's just a cheap platitude to get us to start rowing faster.
