IF I were still an FO, and IF we had a pairing together (IF we worked for the same carrier), I would not reduce my use of ANC hearing protection for your convenience, for as long as we were paired up.
And I would gladly join you in the Chief’s office, if requested, to relate that my aural health is more important to me than ...... you.

Last time I checked there was no requirement to use the intercom system so what would your defense be? Bet you a whole wad of cash you’d be furiously tap dancing away explaining while you were removed from the trip in front of the CP for non-compliance. Guess that’s your call.

And my first question to you (Because you will be coming in to explain yourself) as PIC of the flight would be:
"You get paid handsomely to make things work and keep our operations running smoothly. Why weren't you able to work your way through this misunderstanding with your FO and protect our schedule?"
Also, I've known Huggy for a long time. He's the real deal and a really nice guy. You come off on this bulletin board as an entitled, self-absorbed, pompous jerk.
I wonder why that is?
(That's rhetorical, please don't answer.)

What an egotistical assumption. When I'm sitting at the CPs desk and I get sent an FO who was removed from a trip for insubordination, I actually would make no judgement at all. I would, however gather information, to include witness statements and a review of any previous discipline issues with either pilot.

Do us all a favor and don’t take the job if offered.

Any pilot in the flight office who would make such a dumb comment to a Captain doesn’t deserve to be there. We respect Captains authority here. The guys who make nebulous, non specific statements like that have been run out of the UAL flight offices. ALPA does a good job of keeping those guys out. (Scabs, company stooges etc). To be clear , I’m not saying the headset position is right or wrong. Just pointing out what a dumb thing that is to say to a Captain
