That last vacancy had SFO 320 Captain awards to guys just shy of their 4 year anniversary.

And in a few years There’s a good chance you’ll be able to get back on here and talk about how all those sub 5 year Captains who are now back in the right seat on reserve.

Possible, but not likely. There are only 4 big airlines now, with far more market share than ever because of consolidation. Not to mention historically high numbers of retirements for the next 15 years. Plus we have better management, relatively speaking.

I hope you’re right. I really do. And I wish that unicorns and forest pixies were real too.

My only real point to the newer guys is, don’t go out and buy that new Ferrari and captains house just yet.

Management is full of dumb ideas just itching to burn capital. The crj550 could be the poster child of dumb ideas right before the fall. Make hay while the sun is shining but Kirby wants to **** on your field.

Hoss, the pilots currently holding Captain with 4-5 years seniority have most likely seen how bad things can get in the industry. Maybe not to such drastic extents as what UAL guys have seen. But for a good amount of the “newer guys” they are no strangers to getting laid off by the regionals, ACMI’s going out of business, corporate jets being sold or getting downgraded during the dark decade. So I wouldn’t worry about what the newer guys are doing with there fresh new Captain pay rate. Chances are 80-90% are WELL aware of how fast and bad things can get in this industry.

I
We must have the same crystal ball. I tell captains I fly with I’ll see them in a couple years when I get bumped off the left seat.

No big purchases anytime soon. But I am looking forward to finally affording that royal with cheese
