I would love to transfer to LA or SF for easier commute, but they have tons of red eyes with min days off.
Agreed. Fully. I love the flying on the EWR 73 and at 58% I am getting 16-19 days off a month. I can have 3 layovers a month in Punta Cana all inclusive or 4 in LAS, etc. IAH 73 flying was awful. EWR has a bad rap and I have yet to figure out why other than it's Newark. Having been IAH for 15 months and EWR for 9 I'll take EWR 73 hands down. I'll take a layover in a great place over comfort any day. It's not like I'm uncomfortable up there. I find it humorous that people are basing life decisions on relative cockpit comfort. I'd rather have great layovers in places I want to be with max pay and max days off. Not saying this can't be had in the bus...but from my experience the 73, EWR specifically, is a great place to be especially for a commuter east of the Mississippi.

The majority of West to East redeyes are SFO LAX crews. EWR has some shorter BQN, and does some of the West to East, but they are mostly done by SFO and LAX due to 117 reasons as I understand it.

Mostly red eyes on the last day of a 4 day, west to east. In fact, In my 25 months I've never flown an east-west red eye. They've all been LAX-EWR, SFO-EWR, SAN-EWR, SJU-EWR, etc. I love them on day 4. I'm home 12-24 hours earlier than I would be otherwise.

Would going to work via IAH-EWR be difficult if you were on the 737 and with its trip patterns?

I've never tried it. Likely a semi-challenge based on the fact that IAH is a hub and a (current) training base. That said, I've flown IAH-EWR and reciprocal multiple times and don't remember ever having a jumpseater.

The 737 deliveries are wrapping up for now. The MAX won't be here for another 3 years or so. The A319's coming from China could total 25 over the next 2 years. The growth in the near term should be about even

Currently, which would get me to IAH quicker? I should be in a Sept class. I'll be living ~1+30 from IAH.
