A bit of online research will provide reading material that reveals what the Hogan does and how it helps United determine which people they're looking to attract, which people they're looking to avoid, as well as the validity of personality profiling for specific job duties in general.

Only if;

1) You know the original sample group that was used to determine UAL's SPECIFIC parameters and and confines of what they want. As opposed to the results it simply spits out, and

2) The moving target that those parameters and confines are and how they seemed to have changed over time.

Hogan Assessments is a vendor or a service provider. Their products are marketed to United, and other corporate clients, as a tool to help the client attract certain personality traits and avoid other personally traits, depending on the client's specific requests and parameters. Therefore, there is no such thing as "results that it [the assessment] simply spits out". The results are specifically tailored to the requirements of each client.

Do we know what United's specific parameters are? No. But some online research on pilot personality profiles, exploring a few researcher / thesis papers on personality profile assessments, and browsing around the Hogan Assessments website can get you pretty close.

And yes, it's is somewhat of a moving target, as Hogan (the vendor) ensures their customers (United) that their products are continually supported by having the ability to adjust the assessment tools as needed over time to suit the changing demands of their customers as well as to hone the validity of the results of the assessment tools.

Don't take my word for it. All this info is available on the Hogan Assessment website and blog.

Do I have a link? No. I read through dozens upon dozens of links. But before I got the opportunity to interview, I had a lot of time to prepare, research, and be ready for the opportunity when it presented itself.

That's the method that worked for me. YMMV.

For those that did not pass the Hogan on the first try and did on a later try- How did you feel you answered the questions on the second go?
1. Honestly and without giving each question too much thought?
2. How you thought the company would want you to answer the question?

There are many different ways to "fail" the Hogan, along with most other similar tests, but this is probably one of the best.

It's a high wire act because if you guess inconsistently or use a combination of honesty and guessing it will not end well.

And yes, I have have no doubt there are pilots that have passed using this method. They are the exception, however.

I had a friend who recently took the Hogan. I believe yesterday, and they said that there was only one section now. Has anyone else experienced this? He's afraid he failed because it was done after the one section only. He even called Hogan to confirm everything was complete and they said yes. Anyone that has recently taken the test seen this as well?

Yes. Only one section now. A buddy of mine took it and passed. Got the interview invite same day.

Has anyone on here taken both the Hogan and Delta's personality tests (NEO and MMPI 2)? If so would you say they are similar and that if you pass one you have a decent chance of passing the other? I passed Delta's tests and am curious if I get the email if I would also pass the Hogan. The MMPI2 you can actually take online which is interesting...obviously you can't take the Hogan online prior to doing it for United

Any idea how long it takes to hear after taking the Hogan (either yes or no)? I think I'm about to wear out the refresh button on my email.

Thanks
