Pilots go to WAI and OBAP because that's where the recruiters are. Meeting recruiters is supposed to improve your chances for an interview. You got a call to take the Hogan without going to a conference apparently, so good on you. A lot of good pilots haven't been able to do that. But I'm fairly certain most recruiters don't care about your feelings of support for either of these organizations. It's just a convenient venue for them to attend.

I searched this thread and I apologize if this has been asked before, but I didn't see it. Anyway, I'm joining the club for the failed Hogan and I'm curious if they still keep your application in the 'short stack' or do they send your app back into the app into the 12,000 pile of apps? If you keep your app updated can one expect a call in another year? Last but not least, if you fail the hogan a second time, are you excluded from UAL forever after that? Thanks!

- it sounds like some people get another chance fairly quickly and others are still waiting.
- 2 strikes at any point in the interview process (Hogan, etc) and you are out.
Good luck and keep up the good things you did that gave you the first shot.

- not sure about short vs long stack, but definitely sure that you'll be judged the next year versus applicants at that time... i.e. your addition of a Check Airman or DUI box check will matter accordingly.

Sorry to read that you've joined the club.
Human Resources has enforced the one year time period so that you have sufficient time to concentrate on rehabilitating yourself and changing your *****y personality so that you are a much better fit for UAL the following year.
Not sure what your situation is - but after 'failing' the Hogan, I started looking elsewhere and was fortunate enough to get picked up at another Major a couple weeks ago. Don't limit your options.
