Once in class, seniority and base/aircraft choice is based on date of birth.

I've got an ALPA battle star actually.

Not sure if I'll wear it though. Free beer sounds nice...

He's an 07...lots of new hires on the 76T and 756. Nothing wrong with a non-Captain carrying on the tradition.

Didn't know there was a "tradition." Happy to buy a beer once in a while, especially for a bro, but didn't know there were certain "rules" for FO or Capt. I don't know the guy or his hire date, that's why I was asking him. Again, was just curious.

By tradition...I meant half wingers not having to buy beer during their first year. Many half wingers have never had to pull their wallets out on an overnight....or that's how it used to be.

I was just pointing out that on the augmented crews...if the Captain isn't out with you, it's great if the other FO picks up the slack and treats the half winger.

I can see buying a beer for the other guy/gal once in a while if you're also an FO. Always buying? No. Buying dinner as well? Nope, sorry. But certainly happy to get the first round on occasion.

I certainly never expected it and always offered to pay, but I think I bought 1 or 2 meals my entire first year at United. The EWR 320 guys were very generous in that regard. It certainly has inspired me to do the same when I'm in that position. Either way, welcome to all the new guys! I wish you all a great career here.
