Don't you mean ASSigned? By black sheep, are you referring to the side that took some off the street and GAVE them 100k plus a year job? Did I mention off the street?

If is was before, then kudos. Take ALL the credit and thanks for the extreme professional courtesy.
If it was after, then the whole concept of "side" and "GAVE" is a bit ridiculous, no?

Professional courtesy?? Surely you jest...it's funny how it's a courtesy when LCAL does a good thing FOR LUAL folks, but when the coin is flipped to the other side, it's a scab luvin, o.t. time whoring, cowboy trained thing...and yes, it was a gesture of courtesy...they could gave hired off the street..the merger WAS NOT finalized...

Now that does not mean newhires are ready to give away the farm. We were born at night, but not last night. It is extremely arrogant to assume that a newhire cannot appreciate the hard fought battles that have gotten this labor force to where it is today. I may be very appreciative to be here, but I will also be the first to vote for strike if necessary to draw the line.
Bottom line, try to avoid the "12 angry men" approach when newhires brave the keyboard commandos on this board with their enthusiasm and questions.
Disclaimer: twice furloughed at previous 121 carrier, voted for strike at previous employer

The merger was announced on May 3, 2010 and closed on Oct 1, 2010. The Transition and Process Agreement, with the employment clause, was bi-directional and signed July 19, 2010 at a time when BOTH airlines had pilots on furlough and BOTH airlines benefited from the development of the "transition plan," flawed as it was.
The hiring of furloughed pilots was not even a consideration pre-merger and not a single furloughed pilot was cross-pollinated until after the merger closed as the first calls to furloughed LUAL pilots went out in August, 2011.
Neither CAL ALPA, UAL ALPA, hire or fire pilots. The company, however was also bound by the scope clause of the UAL (and presumably the CAL) agreement and was going to HAVE to offer employment to furloughed pilots prior to hiring off the street at either subsidiary. Just as it was titled, the TPA was designed to bridge the period until the post-merger integration was complete and it simply specified how it would happen.

Could have. But the TRANSITION and PROCESS AGREEMENT set the Merger Announcement Date as the Constructive Notice Date. Pretty standard stuff. All off the street hires would have been junior to all the furloughees. I was kinda surprised myself that LCAL didn't hire off the street....given their history.

Ok, thanks. As a new hire I'm considering trying for an upgrade to the 76T SFO (from the A320 in SFO) but I'm not sure how my QOL will be affected in the 76T vs the A320. I really just want to get access to Hawaiian flying, but I don't want to sit reserve for an extra long time on 76 if I can get a line sooner on the A320. Thoughts?

It's really funny because back on October 1st, 2010 CNN (and numerous other new sources) claimed that the merger was "officially done".
United, Continental deal is officially sealed - Oct. 1, 2010
Even Wikipedia thinks it was done October 1st 2010.
Continental Airlines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Not only that United put out a press release on that date saying the merger was complete and there was only "One airline".
https://hub.united.com/en-us/news/co...se-merger.aspx
You'd have to be a moron or trying to promote a political agenda to believe or to try to prove that there was not one airline as of October 2010.
