I don't get why the big deal about the parked jets. The UAL side did not ask for any status & category credit for the parked jets. The arbitrators only credited each side what was on the property on the merger date. Guys act like the UAL side got a bunch of extra S&C slots for those seats, which they didn't.

Anybody who paid any attention to the hearings realized that the 1 for 1 pipe dream 4,700 pilot airline with the 7.600 pilot airline wasn't going to happen.

How is a merger that looks almost like every other merger a "conspiracy".

That's why there were unemployed pilots. Connect the dots.

Because Sepda dilated his sphincter and let this effluent spew forth...

<<"So tell me, just how was a non merged L-UAL going to add upwards of 750 pilot jobs in the period Dec '10 to Sep '13 without CAL???? The point is CAL brought those jobs, and UAL folks brought the unemployed pilots ... it's very simple ... If they were your jobs & your seats, then you would be in them ... End of story. And before you start the preaching, I don't condone the company playing one group against the other ... you guys love to hide behind the merger policy change "longevity grab" ... well the same policy dictated JCBA then SLI ... that's how we got here...">>

That's how I got here. I've stayed out of most of the SLI disputation but every so often someone hacks up some fetid tripe and I'm compelled to do likewise to deflect the disinformation.

The company is playing fast and loose with the lousy contract and yet its still Black V Blue around here. I'm looking forward to this crap being in the rearview and tossing barbs over the next contract instead.

It is very simple. UAL had to become smaller to get DoJ merger approval. They tried in 2008 with CAL but guess what, too big.

That wasn't CAL magically growing in SFO, LAX, DEN and ORD right out of a furlough and of their own merits, with a net growth of 0 airframes, it was United management pulling a fast one on the DoJ to get approval at the Status & Category expense of the UAL pilot group.

So every UAL pilot below Mid-Body Captain took a S&C hit with the loss of 800 S&C captains and 800 S&C FOs right before the merger. Which is why our 1998 hires, some of which were never furloughed, are paired with 2005 hires and are not happy with it.

I know there were guys frothing at the mouth to staple those furloughed pilots, but it didn't happen and the arbitrators "got it".

I've never seen so many people so upset that their staple screw job didn't work because of the union merger policy actually credited longevity, that they refuse to wear their ALPA pins in protest.

Really???? It amazes me the degree of fantasy that some of you come up with.

So....did Delta have to shrink to merge with Northwest or vice versa??? nope....

Did AA have to shrink to merge with USAir????? nope...

but now the fantasy is that United had to shrink in order to merge....ahh ok....

Somehow those same dudes that had no idea of how to run a profitable airline knew exactly what the DOJ wanted to make a merger work....

UAL was losing a bunch of money with a bunch of old airplanes...that's why Continental wanted no part of that fiasco back in 2008 and once UAL took a shower and cleaned up a little it made sense to take the dame dancing....that simple.

Ok. If you say so. A money losing, cleaned up dame went dancing with a 2x bankrupt, scabbed out, POS airline. That simple. Got it.
