How do you get a meet and greet? Set it up with a United pilot friend?

Check Ebay. I think there were some meet & greets on there for sale.

Yes, you need someone on the inside to "walk your resume in". Local CPs sort thru that pile and contact you directly. Not a magic bullet (I'm still waiting) but I'm fairly sure it's a good thing. If you didn't know much about the company or process, it would be a very helpful "warm-up" interview. Maybe others could comment if they have gotten further via this process. Waiting is hard!

Haha... still waiting? You did it a month ago man! Myself and a few other pilots did a M and G almost a year ago! Granted we are not check airman or military IP's but overall we are likely on the low end of competitive quals. 5000 plus turbine time, four year degrees, union work, volunteerism, numerous internal rec's, family members retired or active with UAL. I hear you though... waiting is hard.

Connections seem to trump qualifications. I flew a trip last week with a guy just getting off probation. He was hired with 2300 TT. Zero PIC turbine. XJT FO with a customer service background/ramp/Flight attendant.

This is bad gouge. Nobody "walks your resume'" in anymore. The current employee signs up with the CP's assistant and waits for a call. Resume's have nothing to do with it and don't even come into play until the meeting.

As much as I don't like the process I walked one in a month ago.

To who? To what end? I got a guy a CP meet and greet without a resume'. Just scheduled it. I had previously got his resume' on CV's desk (this was 6-8 months ago) and was told that it's on the stack with all the other walk ins. Until the computer selects you, it means nothing.

Is there anyone who scheduled a grip and grin with a Chief Pilot and the candidate did not get the recommendation or does the "in the know" crowd have any data?

Did my meet and greet with a CP at one of the bases in July. Setup by family friend at the top of the seniority list. 3200TT 1400tpic 121. My resume put on top with having 121 mostly international experience... Seen my resume placed ahead of the military guys even. So hope to hear from them soon.
