Sometimes I need to take a few days off and rest with a little medicine. Hope you feel better soon.

The blame rests on us? They say no coverage with tons of reserves avail, no open ids, no weather, and on a weekday. Saying no coverage is like Vladimir saying we don't have troops in Ukraine.

We used to have something called "bad day/worse day". Basically, you could swap work days according to the RSV coverage. If you are scheduled to work on Friday, but the coverage is worse on Thursday, you could swap days.

ALPA, in its infinite wisdom, does not support BDWD, because it claims it is staffing negative. ALPA claims that without BDWD, and the UPA, we will have above min coverage making trades easy. It's been a year since we lost BDWD. I have lost all schedule flexibility and coverage still sucks. Call your reps and insist that they work to bring BDWD back!

I was able to trade reserve days and in fact I got all weekends off in our September bid month. All 5 of them. Just keep trying. They can't cover the next day ever, so I usually put HDO's towards the beginning of the month, and then lobby to trade them into LSR days.

Just be forewarned, if you move an HDO it turns into an RDO and does not revert back into an HDO.

It sure does. We negotiated no real limits on the min reserve levels, now we're complaining about them taking advantage of it? Expect the company to do nothing to improve your life that isn't in the UPA in plain, unambiguous language. That's how it usually works in the real world.

What in the contract prevents them from doing that? I'm more amazed that guys are complaining about the company taking full advantage of the contract. Maybe we'll learn next time around... nah! I'll end with an analogy to counter yours: You stick your arm in a lion's cage and it gets ripped off... whose fault is it? I guess you think the lion's to blame.

A rhetorical question I presume?

So we have all these min reserve levels with lots of coverage. Even with all that coverage they have a myriad of excuses to deny. I get what you are saying and am as frustrated as you, but what are you willing to pay for that specific language to force them into a trade or drop? It all has a price.

Just to be clear, the topic we are discussing is not the company taking full advantage of the contract. This goes way beyond that.
