I flew with only CAL CAs for the first year. Every single one bought at least beers during every trip. Most went far beyond that (including food/drinks for the whole trip). I have personally found the EWR crews to be awesome.
I had the pleasure of flying with a recent UAL upgrade as well. Fantastic experience- competent, professional and friendly. Look forward to future trips with the UAL folks
The bottom line is, like it or not, we are more alike than different. The vast majority are great people from both sides, despite some wedges artificially driven between us.
It reminds me of an interview between WWII pilots (American and German) who said they'd have been good friends if they hadn't been trying to kill each other.

Maybe it's because I'm a military retiree, but haven't had anything bought for me since my IOE captain bought me a couple of drinks. I certainly don't expect it, but just FYI in EWR.
Monthly take home is averaging $4100/month. Averaging 35 hours/month per diem, three exemptions, AZ taxes, 4% to 401K, no medical, all the other standard bells & whistles deductions.

When I was a new hire on the 737 in EWR I was bought exactly 1 beer. It was in MEX during happy hour and it cost $1 at the hotel bar. My LCA didn't even buy me a drink.
Now compare that to the EWR 76T (UA) pilots I have never bought a beer and they buy me dinner a lot too, and I'm no longer a half winger.....
