In the matter of: UAL DRC vs CAL DRC

Its been my view that there is plenty of give and take from both sides on the old and the new forum. Those on the right toss some pretty heavy bombs as well. Its a forum after all.

I'll bet a months pay there are either none, or less than 50 737 or A320 Capt vacancies in the next year., We are parking over 70 75's in the next year, and taking only 24 uberGuppies to replace them. That, and from 2010 to 2013 about 700 pilot's worth of block hours were transferred from U side to the C side.
In the next year there will be 700-1200 lUAL pilots displaced off the 76T fleet. Maybe a bit more. Because of the really junior lCal captains in all the bases, it will allow the vast majority (over 80%) of even the FO's in those bases to displace to the left seat if they want it.
24 Guppies in the next year requires 130-140 Captains. Not the 850 as another poster wrote. Even with 100 retirements off the 73, there is no scenario where we get anywhere near that number.
Some of those pilots will displace to wide bodies, which should reduce even the vacancies on those fleets, minus Sparky because of the fence.
I think everyone is going to be surprised how few vacancies will be available in the next 12-18 months. Shocked might be a better term.

I think we will see a lot of Captain bids, despite the "pre-filling" of a years worth of Captains upgrades the day before the ISL and all the bumps. I think people underestimate how great being on uberGuppy reserve is and will gladly go fly widebody FO.
We are going to find out though.

Oh I know, but the dogmatic innocence of some of the Jr. know it all ubber experts who haven't been there or done that on this sight is simple amazing. Just because it hasn't happened to them means that it won't in their minds. Bumps happening are a mathematical fact, PERIOD! You can't shut down an entire fleet and not bump no matter what Johnny come lately has to say about it.

It would be helpful for us if you were to describe what a "heavy bomb" means to you.

So couple mods on a forum that predates the IPod means conservative beliefs at UAL are subject to pitch forks? After comparing notes with friends in numerous other career tracks I can report that none of them ever had articles from American Riflemen read aloud to them at work as I have.

I'd suggest folks post pro-union dogma on a deeply "conservative" (broad strokes, so apologies in advance) forum in 2014 and see if the reaction is similar.

Easier than clubbing baby seals! Keep it up gents.
The point that I was trying to make is that the free flow and exchange of ideas is healthy in a democracy. I don't have all the answers, just as I am sure that some of those who scream the loudest don't either.
