Word out of the Ivory Tower is that UAL management is preparing to announce the new (new?) company-wide cost reduction initiative.

They're calling it: Leadership 7.5

Go back to square one, make it a merger of unequals, pick one company's (United) policies and procedures, LCAL sucks it up, and maybe at least we all survive. Too late.

You are one smart man. Unfortunately, it's to late for that. Jeff and company have destroyed the infrastructure and chased off a lot of good people. We can only hope the money people dump Jeff and find a good leader for the airline. It'll be painful because you know they'll ask the employees to finance a resurrection.

SFO is a good west coast hub that UAL pretty much owns. DAL has evacuated for SEA, leaving SFO all to yourselves. AAL is the airline that doesn't have a significant west coast hub, and imho, THAT is what will be interesting going forward.

The majority of the goobers on this forum could have written this article two to three years ago. Nice of Crains to catch up.

My question now is, has ratty old United been rescued by CAL yet?
