For training I would recommend having a windows laptop to do the endless hours of CBTs. I think a Mac works too. On the line (B737) I just carry my personal iPad Air and the company iPad.

The LCAL CBTs which are still being used for initial and upgrade training can be done on an iPad (though not company iPad because you can't upload the required app). Did all upgrade CBTs this way and took snapshots of key pages for later testing and study.

-- download Citrix Receiver from the app store
-- open Safari and go to skyebrowser.com
-- select a Server
-- tap on Skyebrowser client list
-- select United Airlines Legacy CAL
-- select Pilot LMS Login
-- login as usual (tap top tab to open a keyboard)

Every time you login, initial and subsequent, you have to go through all these steps.

Except the first one.

How many days could you spend at home as opposed to IAH if you did all the 737CBTs on your home computer? Can you do them at home for credit or only review? Thanks. I'm returning after 5 years out on the UAl side and am unfamiliar with this home study thing. I'm not looking to study early. I just want to do them at home on my scheduled days.

They are required to provide time in IAH for you to do them. You can do them for credit from home if they've been loaded. Be careful if you do them at home to do the one they've loaded for credit. There's another one in there that's essentially the same info, but it's there for review for line pilots and doing them won't count for anything for a qual, requal, upgrade. The first week is a forced reading of the FOM. Most of the second week is blocked for doing these CBTs, which they don't care when or how they're done, just so they're done before the electronic oral at the end of the week. You probably could be at home these days. Most people get most or all of the CBTs done before they show up on day one and then sit in their room during the scheduled CBT days and cram for the oral from the test bank from which the electronic oral questions are taken.

APC,

Have you figured out how to do ULN on an iPad? Be nice to do Jeff's fuel class and CQDL B on the iPad instead of lugging around my laptop.

On "an" iPad yes, but not the company iPad because you can't get apps on it.

Get the Puffin internet browser from the App Store. Go to Puffin settings and turn Block Popups OFF and Ignore Mute ON. Done. Use this browser to go to ULN. Did the phase training and CQDL this way.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. I have my iPad Air. It's a shame our IT sucks so bad...
