ALPA is not holding your money. United Airlines is holding your money on the request of ALPA. WHY? Because the leadership of ALPA knew there would be greedy rat bastard pilots that would file lawsuits. As an organization, ALPA has to protect itself from it's membership. If one of these lawsuits is awarded, are you gonna cut a check for your share? NOPE. Thus the hold back. So you're gonna give up on defending your career because of the greedy rat bastard litigious pilots? That's not very smart, IMO.

ALPA would simply charge us an assessment as they have many times in the past, it's my money, I want it, it's been a year. Our union is weak, and ineffective, we are bound by the Railway labor act, and there's no leverage for us. Our PAC is outgunned by PROFESSIONAL lobbyist, and our beloved LUAL ALPA guys only care about their own, the ALPA pin means nothing to me other then legal and aeromedical insurance. Give me my cash..........

I threw my pin in the garbage for a different reason. I am a MIGS, I contribute to the PAC, and I have picketed several times. HOWEVER, I grew up in a union family and I explained to these actual union members what happened during our contract negotiations with the 76 seaters. They chuckled and said, "that's not a union".
THEN I found out that LUAL pilots DEMANDED I wear the pin. Well, that just makes me not want to wear it EVEN MORE!!

Read again...non threatening post. Don't care if your scared or not...just not gonna do any of us any good with a bunch of confused pilots.
FYI...it's only the pilot profession that does not use DOH to merge SLs. Ask your "union" family what they think of your SLI proposal...then get back up and preach about unionism.
