Default How's EWR 756 FO reserve these days?

Looks like after training next month I get to sit reserve for the first time in 17 years. Any EWR 756 FOs hangin' out on APC with some info? Are the reserves sitting at home or are they being flown max hours or something inbetween? Anyone with gouge on how to bid short call/ long call? Is there some way in CCS to look up open flying and/or reserve lists for December?

Thanks for any help or insight!

With the dark cloud of 117 and Unical incompetence, I wouldn't plan on a lot of days at home in January. Not sure if UAL guys have complete ccs access yet, but that's where you see open time from the TRADING drop down. Also you can pull up who is on call in the pecking order on a day to day basis in Reserve Availability. I'm clueless on short/long call techniques.

How, after 17 yrs. will you be on reserve? I have buddies in your BES who hold lines with doh of 2007...just curious. Thanks.

Agree. Joe should be a VERY senior FO in that BES. He's got to be about 6,000 on the list.

Why do you think you will be on RSV? You broadcast your seniority here previously; it seems like you'll have a good line. Whatever.
You don't bid for long or short call. They are open assignments along with the now free FSBs. If you are local SC isn't so bad; FSB for free still stinks.
If you want to sit home you'll catch both of these; if you pick up aggressively (and that is changing) not so much.
Under the current rules, a 1000 SC can kill 2 days of RSV and it works best for your last 2. Also, typically the 0300 gets used less than the 0200.

I'm guessing Joe will be finishing training too late to bid a line so he will be reserve for the balance of the month in which he finishes.

On CCS, pull down the "Trading" tab, and select "trip shopping". Then fill out the base, seat, and fill in the dates, and select "open time." That will show you the open trips.
Also under the "Trading" tab, select "reserve availability", then put in the date (ddmmyy) and rest of parameters. That will show where you sit in relation to other reserves.
The reserve rules are supposed to go to what UA had; first in first out, pick up a trip (length) however many days availability minus one, You'll have to check what time the aggressive window opens.
From what I understand, October and November were very slow, but who knows what it's going to look like in January.
Have fun.

I live local. (20 mins to F lot). 2008 "Uhire". Have had most weekends off bidding short call reserve. Did not fly AT ALL in Oct. except for a day that rolled on from Sept.
Nov. Wasn't much different.
Could've held a line for most of the time I've been back, but enjoy weekends off.
Now that being said, have to see how Jan. Bid turns out. Some different commands that I hope I used properly. Also, I am assuming no more choice of long call (A) or short call (B) because I did not see that option. I know that they were calling A in a lot more than B...

Sounds like you're upgrading to CA. Congratulations. From what I've been told EWR CA RSV is hit or miss. However, with the bulk on the new UPA RSV rules and far 117 kicking in in January, I was told to expect a mess. Hopefully, the protections in the UPA will make this transition pain free. Good luck!

We also go to FIFO versus seniority on this next bid. That means pilots that weren't previously being called will hear the phone ring this month.
