I had already set up a FaceBook Group for Council 5. I also wanted to have a website page (even on ALPA.org) that allowed two way communication.
I believed that we should use modern social media to get info out, and to have discussion.

As it turned out, I did not make the ballot and life goes on. Probably a blessing in disguise.

I do know one thing.. since taking office, not much has changed with regards to comm.
I got the Arb opinion off of CALForums.com
The author of the thread was the Council 5 Capt Rep!
However, had I not been a member of that forum, I would not have known about it till the 6th.
[The Arb Brief is dated from Oct.. wonder why it took till the 5th of Nov for us to hear about it]
To date, I have not seen the Arbitrators Brief on the UAL MEC Email, nor have I located it on the ALPA Site. C5 did attach it to their Blastmail on the 6th.

Again, why not let every United Pilot know what happened? I may affect many of them going into the future. It is "interesting" reading.

As is, I'm done with all this BS>
Just gonna go to work and do my job. Had I not been checking up on something for someone I would not have even seen your post but since you did address it to me, I figured I owed you an answer.
End of the day, it is what it is.

Motch

PS> Anyone attend the First C5 meeting last week? I decided not to attend after reading the brief. But have heard the meeting was not well attended. If that is true, it doesn't bode well for the future of this base~
Have a good/fun career all..

You are right, it is a blessing in disguise.. for us! You are worse than Tara in understanding how the union works..... the democratic process works and weeds out the undesirables....

and for your original post... No, an in house union wouldn't be better....

for the rest of us.... learn to be passive aggressive ......

No kidding. If it was a passenger paying full price, then by all means sell the seat. The seat will most likely be occupied by a non-rev or someone who paid for a coach seat. Business class is almost always full with a waiting list of preferred passengers who bought coach seats.

WOW..I had heard all this clamor about how strong UAL's union was and how they wouldn't stand for contract violations. Yet it turns out they are on their knees just as much as the scabs when it comes to helping out the company at every chance they get. There is no unity, no upholding a contract. UAl guys were not aware that before merger CAL violated the contract at every chance they got. This B/F seat issue was a prime example. But you just side with the company saying "oh well why not sell the seat"

Snarge must be like one UAl guy I know that calls the company up everyday to see if they want to move his days so he can go fly. I doubrt he ever tried calling Tara for anything only to wait for a reply..and wait, and wait..until he just gave up..Thats our new union now. Just avoid until they give up. And thats they way these guys want it.

I'm done with this Union stuff. The company burned their bridge with me about 7 years ago and I have vowed off helping them in ANY capacity for the rest of my career. I'll show up, do my job, go home. Thats it.

Peter I know you have been way more active than I will ever be. I wish their were more people like you that would hold the company to what they agreed on but with all these 8000 new Marvins around here they are just going to freely give the company whatever it wants whenever it wants it.

I'm confused. A L-Ual guy is a Marvin. I am a Marvin. Are you saying that the new L-CO guys are Marvins? 8,000? Or do you say that the L-UAL guys will roll over? I will only roll over for my wife...all she needs is a cookie or Scoobie snack.

Either way, I uphold MY/OUR Contract. Insist on it. Do you?
