Not alleging any conspiracy. Simply questioning a decision to hang onto a dying 24 plane fleet at the expense of a growing one.

I heard that they were going to pull ten more 744's out of the desert.

Dying fleet? There are 747's we had delievered BRAND NEW since 2000. So its not a dying fleet. And only 25 of those 787s came from CAL. UAL has 40 on order, taking the number to 65 total, so don't try and take all the credit. Plus both fleets will be open in 2 years once #25 arrives.

Thanks for all the guppies by the way. They look really cute.

Seems like DAL, AA, LCC, LUV are kicking our rear with fleets you might classify as dying fleet aircraft...does it make sense to pay off a plane that is making loads of money and then park it during a time when airlines are filling premium seats?

It will be interesting to see how many of the Chicago people bid back into the 400.

I just want to clarify something...as a poolie still waiting for class, when this bid closes those remaining spots will be used for new hires? I saw 100 ewr FO 737,20 a320, and 35 JFK 767t spots.

Yes, Unfilled vacancies go to new hire classes. Wait and see the final award to see what goes unfilled. It may take a day or two after the bid period closes to see the award.

They have all of the L-Cal fleets set at max for staffing because they don't want to pay pilots the higher 2nd year pay on that said fleet. For instance, back in 2005-2006 we had new hires going into the 777. That was all fine and dandy until 2nd year pay came into effect and then the accountants had a fit.

There will probably be a few opening for L-UAL pilots to get into on something other than a 737, "guppy", or "light twin" as I call it. It'll just take a few more of these new vacancy bids that come out every month. Patience is the key folks.

I'd say within 3 years every pre-merger pilot will have an opportunity to be in the fleet that they want to be in (that's fleet, not seat), with all of the upcoming retirements.
