Newbie here- how's the A320 flying in Houston? What is causing the new hire movement into the Airbus with no new a/c? Are Airbus FOs going to the 737?

IAH is a new base for the 320 and they have tripled the size of it in the last 8 months. The growth has come at the expense of the ORD and DEN 320 domicile as well as the slow backfilling of LAX and DCA 320. The pilots didn't follow the airplane. The 320 FOs were/are overall more senior than the 737 FOs so they are moving on to 777/747 as FOs or are going over to the 737 and increasing their seniority in base. Also, most 320 FOs are able to hold 737 CA so a lot of them are going there as well.

And EWR is just EWR......no one wants to be there.

Jury is still out... March flying certainly has increased. I predict the summer will be busy. I think its safe to say that Bus flying is the same at every base. Fly to hub, then to outstation, repeat x2 = 3 day trip. Sprinkling of Mexico in IAH, probably the same at other bases too. Nothing too exotic, Bus doesn't have ETOPS.

Hi all, thanks slats extended for the junior base list. So SFO is becoming a reality, at least for 737 and 320 FOs with a short EWR stint or even out of training. What about LAX? From the junior base list LAX is very comparable to SFO in seniority. What is the reality check here, albeit in a constantly changing environment, to being based in LAX as a new hire? And...as a west coast commuter, I would assume commuting to LAX is better for WX, but what about QOL and advancement when compared to SFO? Thanks guys/gals.

LAX is more senior than SFO (but not by a bunch) and the weather in LAX is much better. I could commute to SFO or LAX but I chose LAX for the better commute, and gave up being a little more senior.

Not sure what you're smoking but LAX is way senior. 777 F/O is almost 2500 numbers different from the last vacancy bid. That's 5 - 8 years difference depending upon which numbers you want to go by. SFO 76 and 737s are much more junior. LAX guys can go from the bottom at 90+ percent to 50-60%. LAX is also restricted growth. SFO is the best growing hub. Also, all the 747 guys bid down, that stayed in LAX, and that restricts upward movement for a very long time. Just wanted to give out the correct news!!

I imagine he was not talking about how wide body seniority in LAX, rather for new hires on the new hire fleets 737/A320/756.
