Default Third Quarter 2013

Looking forward to how "prompt and numerous actions" will look to the pilots.

CHICAGO, Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines (UAL) today reported third-quarter 2013 net income of $590 million, an increase of 13.5 percent year-over-year, or $1.51 per diluted share, excluding $211 million of special charges. Including special charges, UAL reported third-quarter 2013 net income of $379 million, or $0.98 per diluted share.

UAL ended the third quarter with $6.7 billion in unrestricted liquidity. "We have significantly improved our operations, customer service and product, and are now competitive on all those dimensions. I want to thank my co-workers as we work together to deliver on our promise of making United flyer friendly," said Jeff Smisek, chairman, president and chief executive officer. "However, we are not satisfied with our financial performance, and are taking prompt actions to increase our revenue and operate more efficiently across the company."

"This quarter my co-workers consistently delivered solid operational performance, and our customer satisfaction scores continue to rise," said Jim Compton, UAL's vice chairman and chief revenue officer. "We are, however, disappointed by the pace of our revenue improvements, and we are taking numerous actions to improve our performance to more swiftly realize our full revenue potential."

Who knew to solve a reliability problem, you had to close a base only to reopen it a year later? It's a mystery.

We the pilots are already paid 8.5% less than our closest competitor that outperformed UCH by over 300% in the 3rd qtr. The Concession stand is closed but our pockets are open waiting for our additional 8.5% increase in a few months.
Go attack the markets, not the employees for extra revenue!

you are close!

During the quarter, consolidated passenger revenue per available seat mile rose 2.7%. Domestic PRASM gained 2.9%, Atlantic gained 9.0%, Latin America gained 0.5%, but Pacific PRASM fell by 9.4% as Pacific revenue fell 11% to $1.3 billion.

Pacific revenue fell to $1.3B, those were Delta's 3rd Qtr profit numbers!

They don't have to attack our wallets. There are other ways to save a $ on our back. How's that IAH Club Quarters working out? I bet there are more of those in our future.

What a dump. I walk out the IAH Club Quarters front doors, just to the right of the doors, there was a homeless guy doing just that( DUMP).
I miss the Galleria area.

Not even close. UCH is three years into the merger. There is something more systemic than the "we are 2-3 years behind Delta."

Delta had the employee groups working "Together" years ahead of where we are. Maybe management by intimidation isn't working out like Jeff wanted....Delta is no longer a valid comparison.

Flight Attendant combined contract and seniority are no where in sight. Synergies? Yeah right. Give me a break.
