Happened to have a meeting yesterday at the hotel, met and chatted with the newest 8-ball and a few other UAL gents. Very cool, still hoping to carry on the tradition myself one day. Class act all the way around.

L-UAL tradition; similar to the "Plug" at DAL.
The junior man in each new-hire class is "The 8-Ball," and lugs around a bowling ball until indoc is over.
I didn't know as a new hire (I was the senior guy in my class) that there is gouge either in the ball, or its carrying case.
