Default LAX 787 base

Message from Howard A.

Team:
As you know, our 2014 international schedule has the 787 flying many routes to Asia. In August, we told you that we believe this amount of flying warrants a west coast 787 base to reliably support our network.
We have decided that LAX is the right location for this 787 base, and as soon as today, you will see a vacancy bid that includes 787 Captain and First Officer openings at this domicile.
We are excited to open this base, which creates new opportunities for our pilots.
As a reminder, you will be notified via CCS Priority Message when the vacancy bid is open. This will include detailed instructions for pilots of each subsidiary to effectively complete this process. If you have any questions, please contact your Chief Pilot Office.

Im Shocked. I wonder if he's going to announce the LUAL base closures before the vacancy bid is published?

There aren't any LUAL bases anymore. We are one big happy family.
There is only United.

I think they over use the word team and maybe never actually played or were really part of a team.

I'll point this out to my fellow family members after I'm activated in my new position after the bid

For the purposes of this bid there most certainly are. The 400 LAX base will close, which is EXCLUSIVELY LUAL pilots who will be displaced. The LAX 787 base will be EXCLUSIVELY LCAL pilots for the next few years. This is going to create an incredible inequity on the west coast for some time. Fwiw, I actually blame the LUAL Merger Committee for this one. The fences were their suggestion.

I never understood why your MC would propose a fence that would hurt the masses overall ( on your side). Block most of you from the 747( not growing) and 787 ( a new growing fleet). So what...a handfull of CAL guys maybe able to bid the 747... You guys would have had immediate access to a growing fleet to include instructor positions etc...plus your 747s. .Understanding, they had no knowledge of the SLI outcome, and perhaps it was a safety net for your 747 guys, but with the SLI whipping we took, and if no fences, were in-place...this would have been a nightmare scenario times 100 for the L-CAL pilots.

On the flip side, when CAL guys bid out of the 737 in LAX and other bases into the 787, the left seat 737 will be all yours to fill based on your seniority and desires...especially your FOs...

Before the bid was taken down, the LAX 747 base still showed 17 CA and 35 FO. Although maybe that's why they pulled it?

I doubt the displaced 747 F/Os are going to wait for bids to open on the 737 Capt seats.
