LAX 787 base
Message from Howard A.
Team:
As you know, our 2014 international schedule has the 787 flying many routes to Asia. In August, we told you that we believe this amount of flying warrants a west coast 787 base to reliably support our network.
We have decided that LAX is the right location for this 787 base, and as soon as today, you will see a vacancy bid that includes 787 Captain and First Officer openings at this domicile.
We are excited to open this base, which creates new opportunities for our pilots.
As a reminder, you will be notified via CCS Priority Message when the vacancy bid is open. This will include detailed instructions for pilots of each subsidiary to effectively complete this process. If you have any questions, please contact your Chief Pilot Office.

For the purposes of this bid there most certainly are. The 400 LAX base will close, which is EXCLUSIVELY LUAL pilots who will be displaced. The LAX 787 base will be EXCLUSIVELY LCAL pilots for the next few years. This is going to create an incredible inequity on the west coast for some time. Fwiw, I actually blame the LUAL Merger Committee for this one. The fences were their suggestion.

On the flip side, when CAL guys bid out of the 737 in LAX and other bases into the 787, the left seat 737 will be all yours to fill based on your seniority and desires...especially your FOs...

I doubt the displaced 747 F/Os are going to wait for bids to open on the 737 Capt seats.
