I believe it says somewhere that multiple listings for the same flight are not permitted, maybe in the policy section under travel. Regardless, that is BS as is the whole vacation pass concept.

Well, technically it isn't free at Delta. We pay a yearly fee of $50. So it looks like it's free when you list. Definitely beats the $15 per leg we used to pay.

Thanks for the chops busting "correction." But, I believe that $50 is an admin fee to offset managing the entire non-rev system. Quite reasonable in my opinion, but NOT a pass charge. Semantics. But my point remains. Charging a pass fee is BS. Try as you might to hate them, Delta does a lot of things right.

BTW, I'm a retired Delta out of Pan Am out of NAL.

What are you referring to regarding paying first? Pass travel charges are payroll deducted and are paid post travel. Also, once you hit 25 years of service all pass travel is without surcharge (you will pay for customs fees).

If you are referring to companion passes the reason you are charged in advance is the credit card issue. There is always the chance a person conducts travel then cancels the credit card account thus leaving the company on the hook for the charges. Would you as the employee want to pay for a companions fees if they balked after they traveled? I have friends at US and DL, all companions pay in advance at both those carriers also.

If you are UAL pilot (even on the CAL side), the charges have to be paid up front on a credit card, if you don't get first, you get the fun task of trying to get your money back. For me, it has taken months each and every time, and hours of my time because they keep changing the refund process. Prior to the merger, it was payroll deducted for us to, and only the charges you actually accrued.

It's logical for retires and companions to pay up-front.

Mine is $52.50. I have payroll deduct or credit card as options for payment. The $52.50 is the customs fee. I have never been charged those fees for reservations that I made and cancelled or not been boarded when selecting payroll deduct.
