New guy question here. I'm not affected directly, but want to understand the issue better.
What's the history of the 10 year bypass rights? Is it CBA, merger agreement or something else? Had a Delta guy tell me today that is a fed rule, but I'm not too sure about that.
Thanks for the info,

Yeah, it started as a LOA in the previous L-UAL contract and is now outlined in the current UPA (sections 7-E & 7-F).

As a "new guy" the best advise I can offer to you is to become very familiar with the contract (once the FOM and aircraft stuff is cemented) and have it available at all times in an electronic format (iPad/laptop/phone/whatever) for the ability to search for certain key words.
This same advise was given to me as a new hire back when we used paper and it only took several years to take.

It's cleverly hidden, no?

There have been 10 or more unfilled JFK Airbus FO positions for several bids now so assuming one has the seniority within the furloughed group to hold said position, I would expect the answer to your question is "yes", but obviously I do not have any facts other than the previous unfilled positions upon which to base my thoughts.

Thanks Joe. I guess I should have been a little more clear. I'm Furloughed UAL flying a CAL 73. I hope to bid back to the Bus on the west coast. I'm guessing your answer is the same. It will depend on if I can hold it or not.
My guess is a lot of Airbus FO's will be bidding 73 Captain and open up a lot of Airbus FO slots. Fingers Crossed!

Good guess. Junior 737 captain, 9821. Junior 320 captain, 6518. Every LUAL pilot between those two numbers will be eyeing the 737 left seat.
