The question I have is how long it'll take for the company to take delivery of it's 26th 787 and thus remove the fences.
But then as a FLA resident I have no interest in a seat based west of ORD/IAH.
I lost 1.8% and figure over a 12000+ pilot population it's close to a wash.
Its 25th 787......

I'm in SFO and guess who I met at the bus stop? JH.

He says the fleet plan today calls for the arrival of the 25th 787 in 2 years and 4 months.

Did that come from the thrice daily, long term planning committee?

Perfect. I wasn't going to bid it anyway until I could hold a line, and being about 50% overall on the list once the bottom fills out I'll probably bid into it then.

Unless you're a 570 he screwed you with that fence (especially if you're on the west coast). The -400 is staffed properly....maybe even a little fat now that 6 a/c are going back to Chicago and the 777 will be flying SFO-SYD (although THAT may not last long). 25 new 787s mean a lot of movement for the old CAL guys at the highest pay banding.

So...for the next 2 years and 4 months (December 2015, if it stays on schedule) you will see plenty of bids on the 787 for the CAL guys and very little on the -400 for the UAL guys.

No worries. Fencing off 40% of the pilot group means it will go junior. We are getting 65 of the "game changer" so once the fences drop, those of us with more seniority will be able to jump in and be good lineholders.

Lots of opportunity to be a guppy Captain between now and then.

Another 2 years is a long time if you're junior on narrow body reserve. If you are an Airbus or 757 f/o that was integrated below the Junior guy on the SFO Capt bid (07/12/05) there will be zero opportunities for them to upgrade to captain any time soon.

The press release for the victor is always easier to write.
