Perhaps the other perspective would be that the LCAL folks have enjoyed 3 years of a windfall and the playing field just got leveled. If you truly thought 2013 was going to be the SLI snapshot date, you absolutely ignored merger history and were setting yourself up for a MAJOR disappointment. I would have bet my house on the 2010 snapshot because thats the way it always has, will, and should be done.
I agree with your analysis. The snapshot date is the right one. Had this same ISL been published in Oct 2010 my comments would be the same in that a '97 UAL hire went from junior FO with a likely 5-7 years before the recalls pushed him back up, to having CA available much more quickly because of the merger. The 3 year delay does make this gain seem more dramatic, but doesn't change the fact that this group in particular was greatly advantaged by this merger with CAL.

Well, DMC12 is junior to me - so I'm happy!

If they can't be happy with their good fortune and windfall at this turn of events after a long and dark period at UAL then there's nothing to say.
If you think 98 hires will be able to hold capt soon you are high.

Those 05-07 capts better get real comfortable with reserve rules.

The fact is that this ISL should've been done three years ago and those 06 and 07 hires should've never been able to hold those bids to start with. Remember, the arbitrators have confirmed the UAL argument that everything post Oct10 belonged to both groups. Perhaps I should be upset that I've been 'wrongly' held back for three years?

**I'm not trying to instigate another argument, I'm simply illustrating why that particular gripe won't carry much wait on the UAL side. Let's just let it go.**

Talking to friend of mine from Wall Street, it is hardly amateur hour in Chicago. Not to mention if you dont want to be here, USAir is hiring. you could do ISL all over again.
Compton is in Investor Relations... The CFO since mid 2012 is a UAL guy named John Rainey. Prior to Rainey the CFO was Zane Rowe, a CAL guy. I would give the CFO the credit for the strength of the balance sheet...the IR guy certainly deserves credit for other things though -- like keeping Smisek from getting lynched by the shareholders.

Here's my take again, before I abandon the Internet for a while for a nice hot, humid bike ride:

Quit gloating and quit crying. Don't worry about it. Don't take it personally - you have NO control over any of this, except....your attitude.

The merger sucks bad enough of on its own accord. Don't make it worse by acting like a douche or a *****.

Have a nice day!

Oops you are correct. I met them both but mixed the names around. Rainey is the guy I meant to give the cred to.

Career expectations really needs to be part of ALPA merger policy.

The good news is I was able to stay focused yesterday and drafted a pretty good fantasy football team!
