Furloughs should have never been an issue since we all take that risk when we move to a major. Only reason they were included is to bump all active UAL pilots higher on the list. Bottom active 320 fo at 95% of L UAL should be 95% of new UAL...even with the 2010 snapshot all you UAL guys love to bring up. I firmly agree thats the list that should be used.

He cannot.
He only heard it from some blow hard on CAL Forums or in the crew room. Why educate yourself when you can just get it word of mouth?
He was EXPECTING a windfall with 1436 pilots stapled below him.
THE CAL MEC IS TO BLAME FOR NOT MANAGING EXPECTATIONS!
"May the Swartz be with you" ..... was the battle cry!
"Katz is knocking em dead"
"Brucia is showing them who is boss"
"Jumbo's"
I am sorry CAL guys/gals. You had your hopes set way to high. Many on here tried to tell you!
You need to look at your MEC and Merger committee and ask them. Oh wait..they are awfully silent right about now.

If you are a 2005-2008 LCAL hire, I hate to break this to you but you've had a song of a career up until now. You missed the fun of 9/11, Ch 11, parking airplanes, major length furloughs, etc. etc. You're not going to find much sympathy from the rest of us.... on either side of the fence.
You don't need to break it to any if us. I dare say nearly all of us 05-08 hires were flying somewhere on 9-11, have had it rough too. Many of us have been waiting for the CAL retirements to kick in for 15-20 years as we saw the huge exodus coming long ago and positioned ourselves to take advantage. I really never did apply to LUAL mostly due to the large number of pilots about my age already in place. I upgraded at CAL im 07 after 2 years. Again I know that is good and as you put it "up until now". My career expectations were not taken into consideration as the merger policy dictated.

The only reason guppy Captain is so junior in the 1st place and that Airbus FO hasn't had a chance to bid off is because only 40% of the airlines pilots have had access to any meaningful bids.
The SLI solves that problem. If the UAL side had had all those bids, it would have been the other way around.
Its totally fair to now let UAL pilots actually bid to fly on routes that they built and have flown for years.
Yes, lots of pilots currently hold guppy Captain out of seniority, but that is going to be fixed through the natural bidding process.

I am glad that you agree that our Career Expectaions were excellent. Yes we had it good and this is what so many of us are mad about. Our career expectations were given away.

UAL had its own period of very fast upgrades also. The pre 9/11 world was constant movement at UAL. Our career expectations were blown out by the fact that UAL was not built to cope with the post 9/11 world and the rise of the LCCs. CAL went into this world slimmed down and better fit from two prior BK events. What CAL was not built for was the post DAL / NWA deal world. Smisek personally called Tilton and intervened upon realizing in early 2010 that a UAL / USair deal was about to happen. As the arbs pointed out, CAL's financial performance was deteriorating notably by this point. Obviously, Smisek and the board knew they could not stand back and cope with DAL / NWA and UAL / US. The bottom line is, radically changing industry dynamics changed your career expectations. Assuming they would have not been altered if CAL had attempted to remain independent is a fantasy.
