There seems to be quite a lot of misunderstanding surrounding this issue.

There is only ONE base being discussed; the company is in trouble because they obviously hoped to have an SLI before the s-UAL 737s were needed in actual operation, but now even after they come to an agreement on the "Notice of Proposed Decision Making" I foresee a huge problem because going forward the training and shifting of pilot positions will be enormous simply due to retirments, contractual changes, and existing fleet plans, BUT what happens post SLI when there are 20 open slots in EWR on the 756 fleet on the CAL side and 10 of those slots are bid by L-UAL guys BUT we can't fly together yet because of ongoing operational differences like Sabre flight plans, iPads for FOMs, and lack of ship sets.

I'm dyin' to see how they pull a rabbit out of the hat on this one . . . I see tons of grievances comin'

So the UAL MEC wins the $40 million profit sharing grievance, the company needs RJ relief because they confused nautical miles with statute miles and now this. I certainly hope the United MEC is going to use some of this leverage to have LOA 25 Paragraph 4 removed.

They'll muddle through. They always do. After SLI they'll just toss some LCAL pilots into the planes with a training bulletin about ops/aircraft differences and pay protect LUAL pilots who are harmed by LCAL pilots leapfrogging. The problem is the passengers sense the chaos and the product is further diminished.

PS, nice find on that letter.

Yes, we won the profit sharing grievance on paper.

This paragraph was added at the insistence of the CAL MEC. The company had no desire or need for it to be included and would likely be willing to give it back. It was a CAL SLI tactic to exclude the furloughed.

There are a lot of items in the contract large and small that need some adjustment. It's hard to foresee how a new contract will play out in its application. We have and this is a rare chance to make a course correction a year into it.
First test of how the two ALPA sides work "together" since the SLI ("train has left the station") ... It will be interesting to see ... I hope we work together, versus fight each other.
