New s-UA 737 Base to Open in November.

My best guess would be a majority if not all of the 19 CAL CA slots will go fairly senior on the 1st go around with those who can already hold 737 CA taking a lateral or perhaps some down bidding into SFO. After the first round, it will likely go more junior as it is now at UAL.
One of the bright sides of the merger will be the chance to have a bigger selection of bases for all to choose from.

A 767 FO takes a pay cut. A 320 FO gets a $1 pay raise. Go to Houston to learn CAL systems from CAL instructors for what amounts to a lateral move. Are the 737s still in round dial config? Are they still doing Jepp revisions? When they combine the fleet after sli will the pilots be in different uniforms? (Except for the captain's five year pin vs. FO's 15 year pin). Since there will surely be more vacancies there after SLI why wouldn't a junior FO wait and see?

Also, this little loophole left out of the UA MEC communication:
In the event the decision and award of the SLI Arbitration Board is in conflict with this agreement, the decision and award will prevail
Meaning if CAL gets it's request to keep all future training awards from the Board, the TPA and MOU are overridden in this case and UA side pilots will still be left waiting.

They got guaranteed slots. These SFO bids can't be taken away regardless of SLI outcome or training status. They got early access to what are supposed to be UA-side airplanes in a UA-side domicile.

Anyone DISPLACED as a result of a base closing or reduction on the CAL side will have "GOLDEN Bumping" rights and could displace anyone thought to be SAFE in a CAL SFO position. Or any other CAL position they can hold. I don't know if this applies to the UAL side.

Yep! You are correct that we wasted leverage. Not only with C2012 but with this new MOU they just agreed to. Heppner should have filed a Grievance citing violation of the T&PA as soon as the first 757 was parked. He blew it again!

So what are the reasons? What am I missing?

Technically, since we are talking about loop holes..

The "Bumping" is somewhat of a misnomer at UAL. Pilots can Bump to any BSE that they can hold, but it has no direct result in a pilot being Bumped out.
If a very large number of pilots bumped into the same BSE (post 9-11 400 F/O's to 777 F/O), the company could at a later time decide to surplus some pilots out, but they most often do not as it creates a new group with the very same Bumping rights.
