Great advice for probation... When I was hired 14+ years ago kept my nose clean and plugged along and never complained publicly... Asked many Captains (not the little "c"aptains) for advice and help to resolve issues when in doubt of the companies interpretation of the contract. Once you get the full ALPA pin complain away!!! Remember the Captains are writing reports when on IOE and even during probation... So be careful and know your audience.
Good Luck and enjoy flying the line.

Working at UAL is nothing like what you read on this forum, you'll be very happy, especially with the 737 guys, very nice group of people.

Hey folks, sorry to change a thread but I do not know where to post this. I filled out airlineapps targeting United. I did not see any section for volunteer work. I talked to recruiter at WAI conference and was told to make sure my volunteer work is on my app. How do you list volunteer work on airline apps? Thank you

There is not a field for it on the apps. Make sure it's on your resume.
Good Luck.

The standard airlineapps does not use a resume correct? I think I recall seeing an option to do so, but for a limited amount of airlines. I believe I put my volunteer work under a section along the lines of awards and achievements I believe. I don't have the time to go dig it up right now, but I can confirm later that is where I was told to put it by someone in the know. Please correct me if I am wrong guys/gals.

I may be wrong but I doubt that an airline puts a whole lot of stock in volunteer work. We all do it. They're hiring pilots. I wasn't asked a single question about any volunteer work in my interview.

Not for nuthin.......

But at job fairs, etc if it's on a résumé it gets attention.

And if one is mil (like you) the metric is slightly different. As one has already performed "volunteer/community service" so to speak.

But for right here and right now, it just seems to be another feather in the cap or subjective/relative thing to measure the overall candidate. I believe it's both AS and AA that ask specifically about it.

At DAL IIRC, a pure mil background won't get asked about sick calls.
