I was on the 767 contract with ANA for the last almost 7 years. I'm in the 12/10 class.

Seniority in class is done by DOB. I'm not the 8 ball but am the 2nd youngest in the class and the 76T went junior. Our choices were solicited by email and our projected award was given to us a few days ago.

I am a bit confused about exactly what the 76T is... Can I bid 767 in ORD or IAH or is it considered a different fleet? My goal is to get to IAH as soon as I can as that is my easiest commute.

76T is legacy United 757/767s. It's still run as a separate fleet type from the legacy CAL 756s.

Am I correct in thinking that all reserve is now long call, unless converted? Do most people sit long call from home if there's a reasonable commute? I'd love to hear some specific examples. Not expecting a class until late March/early April, but weighing which fleet/base would suit me best. Sounds as if the 76T would have longest time until one could hold a line?

It's all long call starting in January.

Yes.

Yup. I know plenty of pilots that sit long call RSV at home. The only problem is UAL crew planning considers long call a symptom of over-staffing so don't expect to sit at home for extended periods as a new hire.

Yup. The 76T is the shrinking fleet for the next two years as the pre-merger UA 757-200s are parked and replaced with 737-900ERs. IMHO, the likelihood of a "lateral" to another base (or a line) is low considering the overall staffing situation and the seniority of current 76T pilots. YMMV.

There is something called a BAT bid, where you can bid the other side 767 fleet on a as needed basis. So, If you get JFK 76T, you can bid EWR 756 in the BAT. You cannot change bases unless there is a vacancy, and there is a good chance that there will be. Also, getting to IAH should be fairly easy, possibly within the next year.

Thanks for adding what I should have said.

I agree that a JFK 76T to EWR 756 lateral via BAT is a possibility but I personally would not count on a lateral to another 76T domicile (i.e. DCA, ORD, DEN, LAX, or SFO).
