If I remember correctly from Indoc the B Plan is combined with the 401K for the limits. You'll have to contribute an awful lot to worry about the mins which shouldn't be a problem. By way of reference as a first year guy they're putting about $800 a month into the B Plan. So unless you're socking away $40,000+ annually elsewhere the limit isn't an issue.

I don't think this answers your question but the B Plan funds go into a Schwab account with very limited investment options...like 25 mutual funds. It is possible, and I have done it, to set up a PCRA on schwab.com and have your $$ go into a brokerage account. You can then use that to invest in virtually any equity in the world outside of UAL stock.

I'm not an expert so call the plan administrator after you start.

Cheers.

Remember the time this thread was about people being in the hiring pool at United? Those were the days. Pure nostalgia, ya know?

When a group is having a conversation, face to face, and the topic changes, do you remind them to only discuss the original topic?

You're right about a max to 401k but there is also a combined max on pretax contributions to 401k + B plan. I believe it's $51k or $56.5k if over 50. I think any contributions over that limit go into VEBA.

When I walk into a conference room with a sign over the door clearly indicating the topic of discussion...? Yes.

Why do you ask...?

Expect 737---with other aircraft in the mix and more changes in 2014 as the other training departments are spooled up.

Dec 3rd class:
