My suggestion would be to go through this blog and see who has been offered a CJO. As far me:
No military time, all 121, no T-PIC, all SIC, Multiple roles within my company, a decent bit of volunteering. Total time of approx. 4500.
Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it!

Completely agree....

As for me
- 2300 hours military time
- 400 hours in foreign military contracting
- 2300 PIC
- Instructor / Evaluator
- 11 LOR's (5 internal)
- Bachelors / Masters
- No job fair attendance

Yeah, it seems clear now that they are looking for quality of experience, as opposed to just quantity. Military always a plus, PIC, volunteering, instructor, multiple type ratings, clean flying record, etc.
Good to know.

If you can hit nearly all of those, you would likely be a preferred candidate for every company.
In addition to what I listed before, I have a B.Sc., had 14 letters of rec for UAL (a handful of them internal), and attended multiple job fairs. I can't say for certain what got them to take a look at my app but I sure am glad!!

Best of luck!

Yes, I think that is the way to go with these major airlines. It's good for me to know these things as I build more experience at the regionals and work on the rest of the things that have been mentioned on here. It's a long term process but it doesn't hurt starting early. Thank you guys for the input.

Safety programs and seminars and volunteering? I'm sure many have figured out what it takes to be called. Thanks
There is a relatively new hire gay pilot just off probation running around bragging on how he got hired at UAL. He had 2100 TT and no PIC time. I think if you check the right boxes you get hired with low time, or some HR weenie thinks you belong here, then anything is possible. I should have claimed to be a homosexual Native American back in the day.

Can you just say your gay or do you have to prove it? Big difference!

It would appear that YOU are the one concerned about his sexual orientation. If you think he was hired improperly, perhaps you should go and complain. Especially if you're senior to me.

I got to tell you, I wake up every morning as a white dude and I'm staggered by the challenges I face. This reverse racism is really making it tough to get through my days. Not really sure who I should call about it though… Not very many people like me in positions of power. I guess I'll just hope for the best :-)

My new hire class of 25 had two non-white males… I don't think I would be too worried about gay, Native-American Jews stealing "our jobs" just yet

That sounds like Bob...I flew with him. Nice guy, extremely low time...but lots of non-pilot related HR boxes checked off.
