anyone know how many UAL furloughees are still left?
also wondering why they would not take one of the up coming classes, what would be the reason to wait if you want to come back?

They might want the summer off or are still employed at another job.

Just a little insight into the recall/return process (though I'm not sure if it's two separate processes or the same): I know a guy who put in to return from a long term military leave of absence back in February. He is finally going to attend redoc in June. He has a long email trail of the correspondence between him and the company but it took the intervention of the military affairs guy at the union to get him into class. At one point, he even called and told them that he'd been waiting and was told they were just waiting on his clearance... The person on the other end of the phone had no idea who he was. As short as UAL is for pilots, you'd think they'd have ushered him into the first possible class! He'll get a nice hefty paycheck for the 3+ months he had to wait, but I have to wonder why the return process is so screwed up!

I am just wondering how they are working this. When they recalled the 911 furloughs ( I was one of them) they went down the list from the top and you had the right to by-pass. When they hit the bottom, they started working the way up the list. Then you had to accept or be removed from the list. (people on mil leave were exempt from the rule)

I have not really followed it much, but heard after the merger the CO side was hiring and furloughees had the option to join one of those classes. But since they have been interviewing and planning to do more, does that mean they went through the furlough list and the only ones left on it are Mil leave people?

So your on furlough and have no clue how the 2008 furlough mitagation worked nor the new contract which makes that agreement permanent? Are you part of the half winger furloughed group or have any class mate you keep it touch with? All this info has been out there for those that have been fighting for their career!

01 May- To ensure that we have a sufficient number of new pilots in the pipeline to fill class dates in September, we will screen a limited number of pilot applicants for a couple of weeks in June. Our needs beyond September will be met through screening that is not likely to begin again until mid-August.

Does the TDY list have implications for those in class & in the pool, i.e. could a base other than EWR be possible since they're TDY-ing some FOs from EWR to other bases?
