Bearcat, when you say 500 additional new hires, is that this year? We'll have to go to over 100/month to achieve that.

I didn't ask and obviously wont happen. Originally there was a need to hire 300. Not sure if they got that or not, but as of 1 week ago or so approval to hire an additional 500 of which they haven't started into that bank yet. My guess is this is additional to any furlough recalls. They are now interviewing 5 days/ week. Good luck

Have many guys received an invite to interview who come from a 121 turbo prop operation? What is the consensus about how UAL feels about pilots with only 121 turbo prop time?

Have you done the math with the early out option? Not a tremendous amount of incentive for people to leave. Maybe a few that are covering up illness and potential grounding but I would be very surprised if more than 50-100 pilots take the early out option. It just isn't enough of an incentive for many. Heck, many of the pilots that are senior wind up working 9 months out of the year after taking vacation and have 1000 hours of SL. They can burn the SL at 100% pay instead of the buyout at pennies on the dollar.

This.

I'll be shocked if we see more than 100 take the offer. The cost/benefit equation does not work except for those that were already leaving.

Any idea how many have been hired in this second round of hiring? Anyone know how many they plan to hire in total for the current window of hiring?

Are you at Great Lakes or Horizon? It's a trick question. Our recruiters don't care. Apply and update often. Good luck!

There really isn't "current window" until something fundamentally changes.

With the demographics of the pilot group and current retirements, UCH will need to hire several hundred per year for attrition alone during each of the next 20 years. Add FAR 117 and the new pilot contract to the mix and UCH is already behind. Example: the current sCAL 14-02B System Bid has several hundred vacancies. Granted, most of those bids will be cancelled upon SLI (and re-bid using the 'new' system and new seniority numbers) but it does provide insight into future staffing requirements.

UCH has already said 60/mo through the remainder of 2013 with hiring continuing in 2014 (without a specific number advertised----yet.)
