How much notice is UAL calling for class dates, one month prior?

Yes, one month. 4 weeks actually... That's because if returning pilots haven't stated their intent to return by then, United can fill that class with new hires...

I spoke to BK yesterday and he said a Poolie email would be out "soon" either today or Monday.

just posted...bring on the new hires

Vacancy bid 14-08V is now open through May 12 at noon CDT. The vacancy offers 100 additional EWR 737 first officer positions, and 100 additional EWR 76T first officer positions.
Both seats have had unfilled vacancies in past cycles, and it is expected most of these vacancies will continue to go un-bid. However, unfilled vacancies are required to fund new hire positions for pilots and they do expire over time per the UPA.Today’s vacancy will resupply our unfilled vacancy volumes and allow United to hire new pilots.
That said, all pilots are free to bid these positions as they would any other vacancy.

Did you ask about the folks that didn't get the change of hiring managers e-mail by any chance?

Yep, I told him I was not the only one that did not get the email and he said he did not know why and would double check that the system did not have a problem when he sends out the poolie email.

FWIW..when we reviewed my account we found no problems, account paid for and my email address was correct....just a glitch - No need to be paranoid...of course that is now easy for me to say since I was so paranoid I called.

Thanks my brother. Much beer for you when we eventually meet in EWR, DEN or IAH!

Due to some additional training opportunities over the summer, United plans to train most, if not all new-hire pilots in a pool awaiting class dates between now and the end of August 2014. To ensure that we have a sufficient number of new pilots in the pipeline to fill class dates in September, we will screen a limited number of pilot applicants for a couple of weeks in June. Our needs beyond September will be met through screening that is not likely to begin again until mid-August.

Basic Indoctrination classes are planned through the summer and remain available to recalled pilots who return from bypass status and pilots returning from leaves of absence before they are made available to new-hires. All category assignments for new and recalled pilots since the beginning of the year have been to the 320, 76T, and 737 based in Newark.

As always, plans are subject to change and we'll update this site with any significant modifications.
Great info! Thank you so much. Any idea how many pilots they plan to screen in June? And of that number how many would potentially be hired. Looking for a typical interviewee-hire ratio.
