Um, no. With friends like this, who needs adversaries?

If the whole PS thing had been properly handled at the time we (plural) could all have received pre-JCBA improvements that were on the front burner at the time.

Instead, the PS sharing fiasco disguised as a grievance settlement occurred with the associated loss of unity and leverage and now the UAL pilots should be grateful??? I don't think so---particularly considering the UAL MEC first had to win a food fight with the CAL MEC (i.e. JP) for the ability to even pursue the grievance in the first place.

I agree with you on this. We could have had a JCBA earlier and in unity much earlier. It was a massive setback IMO and I said so at the time,

The "career expectations" part of the SLI may have just changed dramatically too. We may have just traded away years of higher earnigs potential amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars for a $5000 check. CAL pilots negotiating. It's got to be an oxymoron or something.

Unnecessary poking I guess. It seems the LUAL perception is that we (JP) played them whereas it seems JP played the company and now everyone's going to get money. As I said in an earlier post I think this cost all of us in the long run more than was gained.

I think you know I respect your opinions and trust your writings but I do think you are giving pierce to much credit for outfoxing anybody - He's not that smart - he was played by Jeff and company to help drive a bigger wedge between the two groups.

Yes indeed.

And that's why the company was desperate to give us PS. We were totally bamboozled by the company on this. Feb 14 will be a day of mourning for me for the pilot unity that has once again eluded us. $3000. Geez.
Things were not going well (have they ever been?) and the company absolutely had to have that money shot and story of "the merger has been a success, the worst is over, see, everyone gets a check" on Valentine's Day It wasn't awarded based on a TPA interpretation or a side deal. It was a settlement of a grievance over the improper sale of some 757s. Since the planes were already gone, the settlement could only be punitive in cash. By JP's own words in a union conference call last Spring he said at the very best union would have received was one to two million dollars for harm done. So, the company settles a $2m grievance for $40m. What a great deal. Right. When has the company ever been that helpful to the pilot group. As I said at the time, WE had the leverage and should have said "you want to have a photo op of unity on Valentine's Day? Great. Negotiate in good faith NOW so we'll have a JCBA on Valentine's Day and we'll give all the photos you want."

No I don't think so

Thanks for the quotes from your previous posts. It appears we agree on the entire issue. I find myself shaking my cranium and mumbling "it didn't have to be this way...it didn't have to be this way..."
