Not buying that for a second. You REALLY need to get over your hatred of JP and the CAL pilot group. As far as the rest of the industry? They were hoping you'd wither and die so they could swoop in like vultures on a dead carcass and get what little meat was left on the bone. Lucky for you CAL saved your hide. The SURVIVING COMPANY is CONTINENTAL. Can't handle that, can you staller? I'll move along..............this thread is beyond ridiculous.
Maybe you should move along - you'll never understand...........

Hold our MEC accountable for what? Getting us something we EARNED and DESERVED.
The courts didn't see it that way. It was a breech of contract plain and simple. You stomp your little feet and whine and screech all you want. The transaction was not contractual it was detrimental to the L-UAL side and the courts have ruled on it. JP and the CAL MEC just got schooled on why you don't make dirty little back alley deals. The good ole boy, wink wink "howdy Fred" style of business isn't going to fly anymore.

Your MEC did a private back room deal that was in breech of contract. It doesn't matter what you feel you deserve. That is why we have courts and judges and arbitrators.

Other than the back alley deal part, this is accurate. We knew (so did the UAL MEC) the whole time they were trying to get us profit sharing as we felt it unfair we'd be the only group not included. The courts and UAL pilots see it differently. That's fair enough too. My hope is that Jeffy has to cough up a healthy sum for his breaching the contract. Remember UCH is the entity that breached it's contract, not the MEC. We'll have to agree to disagree on the what is fair part. But I'll bet you a beer I we don't have to pay it back. UCH will have to cough it up and pay you all. I'm more than happy for them to do it! Congrats on the win.

It was not in your agreement recal, live with it right. Maybe if the cal guys had to pay it back it would slow down the back room deals that they seem so comfortable working.

The problem with your feelings on this matter is you neither earned or deserved the funds because it was not part of your contract.

The pilots of United Airlines work and are compensated by and through the negotiated contract. While I know in this age of entitlement these things are often hard to understand, the contract rules and neither side can simply violate that it without consequences, no matter how good the intentions may be.

Oh I forgot to state I have no bad feelings about the sCAL pilots getting the funds from UAL, deserved or not. Additionally I am unequivocally opposed to any sort of payback of those funds. It was the fault of United Management so let them pay for it.

We are living with it. So are you. That's exactly what I said. So the company giving you more than what's in a contract is a bad thing? Why do you keep saying "back room"? Both MEC's and all the pilots knew this was being worked. Nothing about PS was in secret.

I think it's funny that you'd rather a bunch pilots in your company pay money back to the company than for others to get a summer bonus check they are due. Where do you learn that thinking? I am happy for you all to get some more cash.

AGAIN, we didn't violate any contracts. The COMPANY violated it's contract with sUAL. Simple as that. I am happy for you all to get some more money out of them for that. Nice job, and enjoy!

Thanks for being thoughtful about the issue. Please understand that most of us have nothing against any CAL line pilot. From our perspective CALPA leadership has been dishonest and continues to be dishonest. There are more issues than I can count on one hand where Pierce and Barron have given the impression that they're gaming everything, morals, honesty and fairness be damned. I don't approach life that way, and I abhor those who do.

Watching politicians for years, what I see from them is deceptiveness, underhandedness and deceit. In many ways from my perspective, the output of portions of the CALMEC share those traits. I have no doubt that you see some of that about our side from your perspective as well. I just don't see how the CAL guys can lay claim to PS when it wasn't in your contract. It is that simple.

Am I happy that you guys got it? Absolutely. I just don't like the manner in which it happened. It had a very underhanded feel to it where a company "traded" a 200K grievance for 40 million. This is the same company that pays to fight even the simplest grievance that costs nothing to rectify.

Also, I don't expect or want anyone to pay back anything. I do expect, however, for UCH to be penalized monetarily for going around the agreement. As it should be.
