Movement will continue, for everyone, for their entire career.

My opinion has always been similar to what Sunvox has been saying, because it was used in DAL/NW with great success and minimal legal stupidity afterword.
How much longevity weighting will be applied? I am not sure on that one.
I think the only group of pilots that are going to be ^%$ssed off forever are the 05-08 l-CAL hires. No matter what the SLI outcome, their movement up the food chain is going to be slowed dramatically.

Seriously though, 3 years ago I couldn't find ONE UAL pilot that was happy with the direction of their airline. Every single one of them were begging for CAL to merge with them so they could get our "good" mgt. All of a sudden UAL was the best thing since sliced bread that saved a dying "little airline". SMH

Fwiw as a 2006 cal hire, the United proposal doesn't upset me at all. I doubt that there are going to be a flood of United folks dying to come be 737 f/os in Houston. You can have my Captain seat sitting reserve in Newark getting abused by our new contract. I think you'll find that most of us would be just fine with maintaining relative seniority +/- 1% and if this the worst I'm going to get...even better.
I'm just tired of the constant whining.

So as long as its LCAL pilots being hurt it's ok? Fair and equitable, right?

Because he is NOT working as a LUAL pilot! He has been laid off!!! He is furloughed!!! His Cat/Status= NOTHING, because he is has been furloughed (fancy word for laid off). Imagine this: Suzie has worked for Monkey Airways for 10 years but was laid off. You have worked for Chump Airways for 5 years and have upgraded in the past year with 1000 pilots below you. Should Suzie be called back and placed ahead of YOU because Monkey and Chump have merged into Monkey Chump Air?

Second, I'd like to introduce you to the word "Longevity". If you read the methodology you would understand that status and category AND longevity were weighted.

Really, *******? You could honestly say that 3 years ago you felt that UAL would have made it and CAL was on its last legs? Maybe I was living under a rock, but EVERY publication I read showed UAL to be on its death bed. Before Age 65 CAL was hiring and movement was swift. I had UAL furloughs on our jumpseat who thought they'd NEVER see the cockpit of a UAL airplane again because the airline was in such dire straits. All of a sudden these same furloughs have better career expectations than a CAL working pilot?!?!!!

ps. I don't know why you find it necessary to put my name in the post. Please enlighten me on your motivation. It doesn't bother me, but it was rather obvious so I thought I'd ask.

Fair and equitable that the 2007 hire L-CAL pilots averaging 37 years in age should sit at the top of the widebody Captain list for the last 20 years of their careers as all the '97 hire pilots averaging 50 years in age all retire? Fair and equitable that the CAL proposal would basically block all the '94-'98 UAL folks from ever flying their own widebody metal from the left seat? I see YOUR concept of fair and equitable .. screw over 2000 L-UAL pilots that would ALL see widebody captain absent a merger and yet, with the CAL proposal, none will see it. Sound fair to you ? Umm hmm, thought so.
