Keep reading. FWIW, Katz's blood pressure goes up more when they get to 2008-2010, particularly the four quarters prior to the merger announcement.
I actually laughed out loud when Mo admitted that he was the leak that started the USAir rumors in the press during 2010 to provide "cover" so Smisek could re-engage, even if there really wasn't much to figure out since all the work was already done.

Q No. I didn't ask you that.
A Okay.
Q And I guess --
A If they did --
Q -- if you don't know the answer to my
question, please don't answer some other question.
--and--
A That's what it says.
Apparently, it didn't happen, did it? So
they must have been wrong.
Q I don't know how close they were.
A You know, airlines have more lives than
cats, Mr. Katz.
Q Are you referring to me, or somebody else?
A I'm sure they have more lives than you do,
that's for sure.
Snarkiness all around. These "cats" did not like each other. Too funny.

A. (Mo)And I think there was a belief at Continental, at that point, that it would fare better going forward in this period of uncertainty than United.
United was, from its first quarter results, looked like it was entering a really rough patch for sure.
Continental had come off a relatively good 2007. And so I think that the decision to withdraw from the talks at the merger at that point was probably a sanguine one given the overlay of the
financial
crisis.
And more importantly, you know, Delta and had just merged. They merged into a crisis. Nobody knew whether that was
Northwest
financial
going to be successful or not.
So uncertainty is always a bad thing for an accountant. And the accountant said, let's just put this on hold for a while.
According to this and much of the testimony, it sounds like Larry said thanks but no thanks to the merger in 2008. So, where do LUAL pilots get the idea that there was some "conspiracy" and both airlines agreed to "right size" for an eventual merger?

Katz and Campbell were thoroughly Mo'd over. Freund and Pollack were quiet on redirect because the Katz cross was completely ineffective. I especially liked when Mo schooled Katz on amortized vs. unamortized valuation of the LHR slots. I guess Katz is still learning never to ask a questions when he doesn't know what the answer will be.

Actually, the first thing they addressed was the CAL MEC case.
Here is a video of the rebuttal to CAL's proposal and case.
UAL MEC Opening statement refuting CAL case.

Nope not all of us. I still don't want them in the same union, but you have to hand it to thier group they always position themselves and are quite willing to go over the backs of others, like I said enjoy! What a joke of a union!
Think what you want I think ual guys are not going to be too happy when this is over.
