Ditch them, as well as the Gucci gunboat/elf shoe/bullfighters for a set of regular professional style dress shoes.

And tame down the gelled fauxhawk into a more ordinary/plain style, and don't say "brah" when addressing everybody.

It's a job interview, at a legacy airline, NOT a date nor trying to sell creative/advertising work.

Do yourselves a favor and watch it.

I would hope for the company's sake, there isn't an institutional bias against SkyWest pilots. While I hate to engage in stereotypes (because there's plenty of exceptions to every one), if pressed to name what airline/background I have had the most enjoyable trips with, it's SkyWest dudes/dudettes by far. Lotsa good people from over there are here now (SWA), so feel free to send 'em our way when we start hiring again!

I don't understand when the "backpack, earbud, spiked hair" labeling of regional pilots started? Why is it that the last time I've seen guys wearing backpacks in uniform were Delta (2), American and FedEx? I have only seen one regional guy wearing it and that was a Lakes guy.

Am I missing something here?

Excellent book. All the Gladwell books are great. "Outliers" and "Tipping Point" as well.

If you liked "Blink" you'll like "Predictably Irrational" which also explains why we decide the things we do.

I don't believe it. When I was hired at UA, in 2007, four (of us) out of fourteen were Skywest. I just had another Skywest buddy (former UA intern) start at UA a week and a half ago.

I never enter a room without being tactically prepared, and with extreme prejudice, to immediately eliminate any and all threats within. I went to my interview shirtless wearing only camo BDU pants, Ninja shoes and bandoleers filled with .50 BMG shells crossed over my bare sweaty pecks. I was hired immediately. The only question asked was when can you start?

I've read "Outliers" it was excellent. I really enjoyed the chapter on airline pilots and cultural differences. I'll check out Blink. Thanks for the tip!
