Bro, three questions for ya:
1. When you were working under C2000 rates, how much did you expect to make in the period 2001-2013 ?
2. How much did you actually make?
3. What makes you think the next 12 years will play out exactly as you forecast right now?
I wish you and all of the UAL pilot group nothing but the most prosperous career possible with double-digit salary increases every 3 years. Having said so, I'm trying to point out that only because the current pay is below C2000 doesn't mean it's an absolute minimum to expect in the future. Also, only because you think wages are sustainable, doesn't make them sustainable. I can assure you that current wages are a lot less sustainable than you believe (and yes, in case you're wondering, I have worked in UAL's finance department) and NOBODY knows what the future may bring. United COULD go bankrupt again in 2 years for all we know.
I still stand by assumption that taking your past 15 years salary, averaging and discounting it to today's dollars, then growing it at long-term GDP growth will likely be the most accurate forecast.
I hope you're right, but history is not on your side.

Using "your past 15 years" is very problematic as 11 of those years have been purely an epic crushing down cycle, accounting for very little correction of any type in pilot wages and compensation...Not at all indicative of a "normal" period of aviation. I suggest that the current JCBA (in concert with DALs agreement) echoes a reasonable expectation of a current baseline. Pilot wages have been at a historic low the last decade...retirements, international growth (emirates, Asia), and increased economic activity will put significant upward pressure pilot salaries due to the increase in demand for pilots in the US and abroad. Lacking pilot production (military and foreign organic) training capacity will add to these pressures...
Just my 2 cents

Weren't you COEX/XJT previous? I'm pretty sure they weren't ALPA for the entire time you were there.
Funny, bro. Especially since you have NO idea how old I am, bro
But keep being a TRUE military professional with posts like that one, bro. Was "bro" your callsign?
Help me out bro, I guess my multiple displacements, 4 pay cuts, furlough, starting all over at the bottom again, etc might put me in the "such as you perhaps" category, bro?

As mentioned previously...some of us have lived it, whilst others (such as you perhaps) have stood idly by merely watching from the cheap seats

I'd actually suggest beating the system by starting new hiring thread.

I'm not sure how to break this to you...but if this is a major problem I'd suggest deleting the UAL application because you won't be a good "cultural fit." If it's not obvious by now, every thread eventually devolves like this one when UCH pilots are involved. The mere fact that this thread made it to 89 pages as well as it did is quite remarkable, IMHO. As an example, just consider the huge success of the squirrels and tangents thread when trying to herd cats.
I'd actually suggest beating the system by starting new hiring thread.

Thread drift is infectous here, yes I have been guilty, but given that there are several factors that two pilot groups are worried about is the main issue. Yes there has been some hard roads traveled by many here and they can be weary and jaded but it is still worth coming to. I have a good time on trips, have a lot of home time and made good money. It's worth coming here and once we shake the merger blues it will be even better.

No. The post was 95% firmly tongue-in-cheek and I'm making fun of UCH pilots with a major target at myself---a repeat offender.
The other 5% was mildly straightforward. I understand that pilots are quite excited to finally be able to apply and interview, but folks should also realize what they are signing up for when the rose colored glasses wear off. We are a herd of cats.
